Remembering Sandy

Reflecting on October 29, 2012. I still have images in my mind of my parent’s home after it burned to the ground. Walking over the smoldering ruins trying to identify personal items. Memories of the devastation in the Coney Island community and the struggle to rebuild. I’m proud of the effort and response of the volunteers, city workers and elected officials. We’ve come along way; however, there are still those who require much needed assistance. Also, let’s make sure we have the necessary resources and planning so that we are prepared for when the next monster storm strikes our area.
