Thor Equities Reveals Coney Arts Walls 2016

New York, May 5, 2016 – Thor Equities has revealed its 2016 program for Coney Art Walls, an outdoor museum of street art curated by Joseph Sitt and Jeffrey Deitch. Located at 3050 Stillwell Avenue in Coney Island, the public art wall project will encompass Greenwood Beach featuring several popular food vendors.

Mr. Sitt, CEO of Thor Equities and Mr. Deitch, a leading art advisor and former director of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), are welcoming a number of new artists to Coney Art Walls this summer including Nina Chanel Abney, John Ahearn, Timothy Curtis, D*Face, Jessica Diamond, Tristan Eaton, Eric Haze, Icy & Sot, London Police, Pose, Stephen Powers, and Tats Cru. Returning artists creating new works this year are Lady Aiko, Mister Cartoon, Crash, Daze, Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, and Marie Roberts.

“Coney Island is continuing to create new excitement and attract visitors from around the world, and we are excited to be part of the neighborhood’s ongoing resurgence,” said Joseph Sitt.

Bordered by Bowery Street, West 15th Street and Stillwell Avenue near the Coney Island boardwalk and beach, Coney Art Walls attracts thousands of visitors throughout the summer and beyond.

“There will be 20 new murals this year. We have expanded the program to include several of the leading painters and sculptures in New York, in addition to leading artists connected with street culture. Coney Art Walls will be one of the best places in New York to see ambitious new painting,” said Jeffrey Deitch.

Coney Art Walls is adjacent to the original Nathan’s restaurant and across from gourmet burger franchise Wahlburgers, IT’SUGAR and the Nets Shop by Adidas. Located in the heart of the Coney Island Amusement District, the site is also close to Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park, Luna Park, the Cyclone, New York Aquarium, the new Coney Island Amphitheater and MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Greenwood Beach is run by the owners of Greenwood Park, a popular 13,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor restaurant, bar, beer garden and event space operating out of an old gas station and mechanic shop in South Slope, Brooklyn.
