Wahlburgers Changing Summer Menu at Coney Island

Wahlburgers, founded by Executive Chef Paul Wahlberg and brothers Mark and Donnie, launches a new menu showcasing its chef-inspired dishes and introducing new offerings including both hearty and lighter fare. The menu, which has a new graphic format, highlights the brand’s distinctive housemade offerings, commitment to quality ingredients and varied selection. Guests will find new options including Chef Paul’s unique spin on hearty Wahlberg family favorites like Mom’s Sloppy Joe and Mac ‘n Cheese with Smoked Bacon, in addition to Chopped Salad Bowls, a lighter alternative consisting of a burger or sandwich without the bun tossed with fresh mixed greens. Also new are seasonal selections such as the Strawberry Rhubarb Salad the Surf ’N Turf Burger.

As the brand matures, we’ve reworked our menu to add more variety and better convey our chef-inspired culinary philosophy that relies on using only the best and freshest ingredients,” said Rick Vanzura, CEO of Wahlburgers. “From portion size to selection, we offer a variety of delicious choices to satisfy every preference and appetite. And by highlighting our housemade condiments and signature items, like our custom Hearth Artisan buns, our new menu showcases what makes Wahlburgers unique.”

Wahlburgers offers a total of 15 housemade condiments including pickles, salad dressings, sauces and spreads, such as the balsamic tarter sauce, buffalo sauce, avocado spread, honey garlic mayo as well as butternut squash and orange cranberry sauce to name a few. Burgers are stacked upside down to have a more flavorful impact on the taste buds.

The new menu introduces Chef Paul’s take on two hearty classics – Mom’s Sloppy Joe and Mac ‘n Cheese with Smoked Bacon. The Sloppy Joe, reminiscent of what his mother Alma used to make, comes open faced on thick-sliced griddled bread smothered with housemade Sloppy Joe and finished with crispy onions, signature Wahl sauce and cheese sauce. For the Mac ‘n Cheese with Smoked Bacon, Wahlberg uses mini penne and adds smoked bacon with a four cheese sauce combining “government cheese,” cheddar, smoked mozzarella and Parmesan topped with garlic panko bread crumbs. (A kid’s version is available without bacon and garlic panko bread crumbs.)
“I want to take people to a place that reminds them of their childhood,” said Wahlberg. “Food is connected to memories, and, to me, one of the highest compliments is when someone tells me it tastes just like mom’s.”

Other additions include making The Beast, a very popular featured burger consisting of two 5 oz. burgers, lettuce, tomato, pulled pork, housemade blue cheese sauce, pickles and BBQ sauce, a permanent item; introducing Double Dogs, a duo of all beef Pearl® hot dogs; and adding a serving of fries with all items on the kid’s menu. Also, this spring and summer, the restaurant will feature new seasonal selections such the Strawberry Rhubarb Salad with seared chicken, sliced strawberries & housemade rhubarb vinaigrette and the Surf ’N Turf Burger with a 1/3 pound burger topped with lobster meat and housemade lemon chive mayo.

“ Our meals are made from scratch by experienced cooks who take ownership of what they make,” said Wahlberg. “ We believe everything should have a soul – the menu, the hospitality, the pride that our cooks take in preparing our housemade condiments – everything. This is what we strive for every day.”
