City Council Supports Boardwalk Landmark Status

@Coucilman Treyger

The City Council supported Council Member Mark Treyger’s proposal to landmark the Riegelmann Boardwalk today. The resolution was passed today asking the city to protect the wooden boardwalk.

Recently, community members including Coney Island Blog editor Michael Quinn testified at City Hall in support of landmarking the boardwalk.

Kudos to Council Member Treyger who continues the fight to landmark the iconic walkway even against the objection of the Landmarks Commission.

Preserve the boardwalk. Let’s make sure wood stays on the boardwalk.

  1. Landmark broken planks. I wonder how many of the City Council have walked the boardwalk and seen what horrendous condition it is in, For years…….Everybody screams about wooden planks instead of screaming to fix it. Truly mindboggling.
