July 4th Fireworks Return! Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and Much More!

The Alliance for Coney Island informed us yesterday that “for the second year in a row, Coney Island will be putting on a fireworks show to celebrate Fourth of July in Coney Island. This year’s show will cap off an exciting day in Coney Island with the Annual Fourth of July Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and the Brooklyn Cyclones tilt against the Williamsport Crosscutters, both taking place before the (fireworks) show. The fireworks will begin at approximately 9:45 pm near Steeplechase Plaza on the boardwalk at West 19th. The show is presented by the Alliance for Coney Island and local area stakeholders, with support from Councilman Mark Treyger. 92.3FM will also provide music leading up to the fireworks show starting at 7:30pm.”

When: Saturday, July 4, 2015 | Fireworks Show Starts at 9:45pm

Where: Show launches off the beach near Steeplechase Pier. Best viewing locations will
be at Steeplechase Plaza and along the Coney Island Boardwalk

Luna Park will be opening their gates at 11am until midnight.

Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park will be opening the kiddie section at 11am with the Wonder Wheel and adult rides opening at noon.

The Coney Island Museum at Surf and W.12 th will be open from 12pm-7pm along with the Coney Island Circus Sideshow from 1pm-8pm (last ticket sold at 7PM).

The New York Aquarium will be open at 10am-6pm with last entry at 5pm.

The Brooklyn Cyclones will be hosting the Williamsport Crosscutters,6pm at MCU Park. Tickets may for the game may be purchased here.

Around 40,000 fans will be crowding Stillwell ave. for the ESPN televised Nathan’s Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest. An event that started at Nathan’s Famous original counter on the 4th of July many many years ago, in which two men went to battle over who was more patriotic! Patriotism was defined by who could devour the most hot dogs on our nation’s birthday.

Meanwhile down Surf ave. in front of MCU Park Peggy O’Neill’s will preparing it’s own amateur Hamburger Eating Contest at 3pm. This contest is limited to 12 contestants.
