Instead of a Casino bring closing Splash Mountain to Coney Island

Walt Disney World’s Splash Mountain will be closing in January and being replaced with a new ride called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. If Disney plans to sell off much of the ride Feltman’s of Coney Island entrepreneur and TikTok star Michael Quinn would like to invest in bringing Splash Mountain to Coney Island instead of a potential casino. According to Quinn” Splash Mountain should reign smack center inside the amusement district! Give it a less controversial Coney Island twist while highlighting historic rides of the past!”

Luna Park’s Old Mill Ride over a century ago. The precursor to Disney’s Splash Mountain

Disney’s Splash Mountain which opened at the park in 1992, evolved from the Old Mill Ride which debuted at Coney Island’s Sea Lion Park way back in 1895. According to Quinn “Captain Paul Boyton’s Old Mill Ride in Coney Island was similar to Splash Mountain; however, instead of animatronic characters in the cave Boyton added live wolves in cages!”

In the early 1900s the original Luna Park updated the Old Mill Ride. A century ago other water flume cave rides such as Tunnels of Love opened at Coney Island.

Splash Mountain in Coney Island could document the historic evolution of this ride while riders get wet. The ride would compliment Luna Park’s new log flume ride called Leti’s Treasure debuting near the boardwalk in 2023.

Michael Quinn says that “the community of Coney Island would certainly prefer Splash Mountain to a casino. It would certainly attract visitors to Coney Island. Let’s make it happen”
