Wonder Wheel will be open on New Year’s Day

Hold on! Don’t store away those carts yet! The Coney Island Blog received word this morning that the Wonder Wheel will be open for riders on New Year’s Day!

Thanks to the annual Polar Bear Plunge New Year’s Day has become so popular that now many businesses are open for the day.

According to the Coney Island Blog editor Michael Quinn who received an honorary membership to the Polar Bear Club back in 1989″ I used to take pictures and join them for the swim. I don’t recall many if any businesses were open back then. It’s incredible that now amusements will be open in the dead of winter!”

As long as the weather cooperates Deno’s Wonder Wheel will be open for the first time in history on New Year’s Day.

With it’s fresh layer of white paint, how about we break a mug of hot chocolate over the Cyclone and give it a few spins on New Year’s Day?
