A Bolt From The Blue!

Bolts Fans chumming it up with Heisman Harry

The final Brooklyn Bolts home game last night at MCU Park was certainly the most frigid. Again, the Bolts delivered the heat at the very end in unexpected fashion to remain undefeated.

From the best spot at MCU Park we braved the cold to witness another comeback victory by our Brooklyn Bolts. It all happened within the blink of an eye or better yet within a flash of lightning!

The Bolts were down 13-6, so we decided for just a few minutes to take some brief shelter from the cold. When we returned to our spot we were astonished to see that the Bolts were now winning 26-13 and would go on to stay undefeated in the FXFL.

Despite the cold, diehard Bolts fans were enjoying the last home game of the season. Some taking pictures with the Bolts mascot, Heisman Harry. While others were taking home souvenir gloves, that were given to them along the sidelines by Bolts players.

Evidently, this has been quite a successful first season and not only for professional football in Coney Island. Peggy O’Neill’s co-owners, John Imbriale and James Quigley were clearly delighted by the turnout at their establishment as Bolts fans were lining up at the bar proudly clad in their free Brooklyn Bolts Jerseys.

There were no restrictions after the game when the Rated R Band took over the stage at Peggy’s playing classic rock anthems from the 80’s and 90’s. In true Coney Island fashion, the lead singer was appropriately rocking a “Warriors” T-shirt. We got to know some of the guys from the band as we watched the game with them right before their electrifying set of classic rock. The band, hailing from Staten Island were well received by the Peggy’s crowd, especially after they congratulated the Brooklyn Bolts on their most recent win.

So it now looks like professional football has a permanent place in Brooklyn as well as a home in Coney Island.
