Seaside Park Amphitheater Holding First Concert on July 4

@iStar

Construction crews are working rain or shine; 7 days a week, to complete the long anticipated Seaside Park Amphitheater by this summer. Live Nation which back in 2010 merged with Ticketmaster to become Live Nation Entertainment, will be booking all of the big national acts. Whether or not construction is completed is really irrelevant; the first concert by Live Nation will be taking place at the amphitheater on the evening of July 4th. The name of the inaugural act won’t be released until a later date. Perhaps a famous local singer performing some popular bombastic patriotic tune? We’ll have to wait and see.

Now don’t confuse the Live Nation concerts with the traditionally free concerts sponsored by the Brooklyn Borough President. Remember now, Live Nation did merge with Ticketmaster.

Additionally, on Saturday, June 18, the non-profit Coney Island USA, who will be booking the local talent for the venue, will be using the complex as a holding area for the 34th Annual Mermaid Parade.

We don’t expect the former Child’s Restaurant to be open for business until a later date.

So while we’re waiting.

Just let the music play!

    I realize that the shows will no longer be free, but at the same time, I hope I won’t have to sell a kidney to buy a ticket. This is, after all is said and done, still Coney Island and not Madison Square Garden. Please remember who is going to go to these shows, the local residents as in the past.
