Michael Quinn planning a Cash Mob Event to support Papaya King

On Saturday, September 17th at noon Feltman’s of Coney Island Hot Dog owner Michael Quinn will be supporting another iconic name in the hot dog business by organizing a cash mob. Papaya King has been at the corner of 86th and 3rd since 1932. Their hot dogs have been synonymous with New York City and were a favorite of Anthony Bourdain.

The world’s first hot dog king was Charles Feltman who invented the hot dog at Coney Island in 1867. The torch was eventually passed to Nathan Handwerker; however, in Manhattan Papaya King has been legendary in their own right. The iconic hot dog stand is in danger of closing due to the sale of its building. Quinn who single handedly created unprecedented media attention for his Feltman’s hot dog brand back in 2015-2017 wants to create a similar media buzz to help save Papaya King.

Quinn’s pal Frank the Tank Fleming of Barstool Sports fame is helping with the cause and has already started a petition to save Papaya King.

Cash Mobs in which crowds show up to purchase products in order to support and bring attention to a struggling business have been popular in recent years. Quinn, who spends a great deal of time helping small businesses hopes that this cash mob event can help save one more.
