Jimmy “Major” Prince Still Doing What He Loves
It’s been a few years since Major Meats on Mermaid ave. closed; however, Jimmy Prince, the legendary Coney Island store owner known by the community as “Major” is still at it.
Like the fabled amusement parks of yester-year, Jimmy Prince and Major Meats often comes up in conversation.
We miss walking into his store with it’s Coney Island themed facade. His burgers and meats as well as the “Cooper” brand cheeses and fresh thick bacon would be awaiting you. He would often cook or prepare whatever you wanted that day.
We visit Jimmy often at his new location, at least once a week. His eyes light up whenever we mention Coney Island and the people that live there. He always has a Coney Island story to tell, and he’s always thrilled to tell it. He prepares the food with the the same pride and care as he did on Mermaid ave.
In fact, the best Christmas dinner we ever had was prepared last year by Jimmy himself.

Just wondering where is his new location? Ever since I was a small child I would always visit him and had to find the most recent article to see what he has been up to since his old location closed down. Happy to hear he is still doing what he loves most!
